According to Indeed.com, which aggregates job postings on newspapers, job boards and corporate career sites, there are now 572,215 sales jobs being advertised in the U.S. with compensation of $40,000 and higher, and 11,000 being advertised in Colorado. Both numbers are substantially higher than they were just a few months ago, although part of the increase is undoubtedly seasonal.
Indeed is well positioned to take the pulse of the employment market, and it reports that in October, for the third consecutive month, there was substantial job posting growth on a year-over-year basis in each of the 12 major industries they track. Eight of the 12 industries showed yearly growth of 50% or greater. Furthermore, they found 1,419,243 new job postings nationwide, in the past seven days.
Indeed also conducted an interesting search of the keywords most frequently mentioned in employers’ job postings in order to derive a ranking of the top 15 professional attributes that employers are seeking in new hires. The list follows, in order:
Leadership
Interpersonal
Problem solving
Motivated
Efficient
Detail oriented
Prioritize
Teamwork
Reliable
Multi-task
Time management
